In 2019, we will welcome approximately 175 debaters from eighteen different schools and learning centers in the Greater Seattle area to DebateAble's Eighth Annual Citywide Tournament. All debaters will argue both sides of the topic in teams two, three or four. Volunteer Judges, trained in DebateAble's format and rubric, will score and provide feedback for growth to every debater.

All debaters are presented with Certificates of Excellence for their hard work and presentations. Top scoring Individual Speakers and Teams will receive medals or other awards.

This year's RESOLUTION is: "The United States voting age should be lowered to fourteen years old."  We are excited to provide our young debaters with the opportunity to consider what matters to them, the role they play in our society, the power of voting and whether or not it should be extended to children. We look forward to giving them a chance to share their presentations with you-- and we think you might be surprised by some of the arguments on both sides!

DebateAble Tournaments provide an exciting and unique opportunity for elementary students to participate in inter-school debates. Debaters are teamed with members of their club and debate a prepared topic. Each team participates in two rounds, arguing the Affirmative in one and the Negative in the other. Scores are tabulated and awards are presented at the conclusion to the highest scoring teams and individuals. All debaters receive a Certificate of Excellence for the skills and courage they demonstrate by presenting their arguments in a public setting.
